As we start purchasing parts and assembling Safe Water Stations our Fiji Savusavu Rotary Club team is looking for ways to further improve the design based on feedback on the performance of the prototype and on reports on other water filtration projects around the world. One of the biggest questions is how to reliably prefilter the water to reduce the chance of clogging the Sawyer filters. In many parts of the world they use a bandanna to prefilter. We are looking at inserts that fit right into the dirty water bucket as shown above. 10 and 25 micron prefilters are being tested with standard local water sources from ponds and streams.
